The Awakening Course by Dr. Joe Vitale

If you only know Vitale from The Secret, you might think he’s just your run-of-the-mill Law of Attraction guru who sits in his mansion counting his money. But he’s also in a film called The Leap (www.TheLeapMovie.com ), in which he really shows us who he is. Here’s 42 seconds from the film that, as far as we’re concerned, tell you all you need to know about Joe Vitale.

So let’s get to the question of whether Joe’s Awakening Course brings us closer to Divine Connection or leads us into distraction from it.

Uhh, did you watch the video? 

Joe Vitale is all about Divine Connection without Distraction.  On that score, he’s the man.  But enough about Vitale; let’s get to the Awakening Course itself. 

Joe defines the four stages of spiritual development as:

Victimhood, Empowerment, Surrender & Awakening,

and he walks us through the characteristics and dynamics of each phase.  Along the way he discusses:

-          How to identify and clear subconscious negative beliefs

-          How we each create our own experience of every event that arises

-          The life-changing power of gratitude and forgiveness

-          How to find the gift in everything that happens

-          How “efforting” is a signal of disconnection

-          Using the ancient art of Ho’ Opono Pono in clearing mental and emotional distractions

-          The limitless creative power you gain by assuming responsibility for everything that manifests

That may sound like a lot of ground to cover (and a lot to get lost in!), but Joe’s workbook and recordings are as clear and to-the-point as the little YouTube video you just watched.  He cuts to the chase and helps you “clear your channel” to the Divine so you can really take in what he offers.  And perhaps most importantly of all, while he spends a little time helping you to understand where you’ve been and where you are now, he never lets you lose sight of where you’re going.

I’m going to let you in on a little insider industry secret too.  Joe is a big-time internet marketer, and one of his best selling products is called Hypnotic Marketing. Joe’s internet success is all about using hypnotic language to get you to have an all-5-senses-experience of what he’s saying so you’ll stick with him, keep listening and really retain everything he says. 

Now imagine the impact of taking hypnotic language into the work of spiritual awakening!

That’s exactly what he does. 

If you know Vitale’s book, Zero Limits, you may know that he’s done a lot of work with Dr. Hew Len on Ho’ Opono Pono, the Hawaiian healing technique that works miracles.  We recently attended a workshop run by Dr. Hew Len and he wasn’t so much focused on what we think of as healing as he was focused on what he calls “cleaning.”

He stood up in front of the class and held a clear sheet of plastic between himself and the ceiling.  He said that our connection with the Divine is naturally like that that clear sheet of plastic—a clear path straight to God with nothing obstructing it.  Then he held up an opaque blue sheet in front of the transparent one.  It blocked the light and clogged the channel.

That blue sheet represented our preconceived notions (or memories, as he calls them)—which are essentially, “everything we think we know about anything.”  Ho’ Opono Pono is about clearing away that blue sheet so you can experience your Divine Connection.

This important element of “cleaning” is what makes up most of the Surrender disc of The Awakening Course.  While there are other resources reviewed on this site that deal with cleaning or clearing our subconscious beliefs, Joe Vitale’s Awakening Course gets our highest recommendation because it’s the best one-stop-shopwe know of. It addresses clearing away what’s no longer serving us in our thoughts, lives and beliefs, and it addresses the reprogramming necessary to experience the one thing we really want—Divine Connection.  Beautiful.

Rating Specifics:

Quality and Quantity of Material (9.8/10)

Excellent – though you may want to listen to each audio session several times because you’ll find yourself getting more out of them each time.  The workbook is also very well put together.  If you’re going to go through the course several times, we recommend that you do the workbook first, and then see how your thoughts change through subsequent encounters with the material.

Practical Application (9.9/10)

Contains many real world examples from Joe’s own experience and that of several well known people whose lives he’s studied, plus lots of exercises to help you lock in the material.  You’ll see yourself in his examples—very universal.

Understandability (9.9/10)

The course is beautifully structured, and Joe speaks in a very clear and simple language that’s easy to follow.

Technical Simplicity/Clean Transaction (9.5/10)

With a high speed internet connection, you can download all of the course and bonus material to your computer in less than 5 minutes.  (Though with only a dial-up modem, downloading the bonus video would be painful.)  The audio sessions can be played with any mp3 player, and the Workbook requires Adobe Reader.  The movie can be played on your computer with the latest version of QuickTime.  MP3 players, Adobe Reader, and QuickTime can all be downloaded for free on the web.  Purchasing The Awakening Course doesn’t get you signed up for anything extra.

Focus on Divine Connection without Distraction (9.7/10)

This course has a much wider scope than all the usual “Law of Attraction” material, and Joe skillfully gets to the heart of eliminating the distractions which can inhibit an intimate awareness of the Divinity within each of us.  Best of all, you really get the feeling that Joe is tapped in, tuned in and turned on to the Joy of his own Divinity.
